I don’t think I’m alone in thinking sometimes that the only option for breakfast in this area (or at least in State College) is the Waffle Shop, Or I should say the ORIGINAL Waffle Shop. The Waffle Shop is great. Always has been, and I can only assume always will be. It’s a staple. A place you bring your out-of-town guests, a place you will stand outside in a long line for, a place you make sure that you have cash on hand for.
But,…. I’m looking for more options. After recently reading about The Naked Egg, in a StateCollege.com article, I added it to my list of places to eat. (I should note that my list is currently 121 places long).
So here it is, our review of The Naked Egg
The Naked Egg
This place was great ! The only downfall was our table. Seated in what I call the Bermuda Triangle of table locations; we could see the bathroom, kitchen and waitress ‘hub’ station, all at the same time ! What joy.
But really, I was just happy to get a table so quickly, We got the last parking space. And once inside, it seemed like every table was taken. So the Bermuda Triangle table was nice to even have. I noticed, once we were seated, that there is outdoor seating as well, so next time.
Menu Selection
Great variety of breakfast standards such as waffles, pancakes, eggs, you name it. Plus a great mix of not-so-standard options like scotch eggs, banana bread.
Our Order: Hubs got Eggs Benedict, iced coffee and a side of tots. My order, Huevos Ranceros, coffee. The waitress even brought us an extra order of the tots, which were delicious. Our food didn’t take long to get. Everything we had was great. The portions were big, but not too big. We finished everything, and have already started to pick out what we will order next time.
